PLAN331: Design Studio
Niehoff Urban Studio and Community Design Center, The University of Cincinnati / Winter 2009 / Great Streets and Gateways: Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd-Madsion Road Corridor and Madisonville
The Niehoff Urban Studio and Community Design Center is an interdisciplinary design studio that brings together students of urban planning, architecture, civil engineering, graphic design, business, economics and sociology. The studio provides technical assistance to communities in the greater Cincinnati region, giving students the opportunity to gain real world experience. Completion of the studio is a requirement for Urban Planning students in their 4th year of the 5 year program.
In fulfillment of the Bachelor of Urban Planning degree requirements, I completed the Niehoff Studio in Winter 2009. I was part of a team comprised of planners and civil engineers and we were tasked with proposing stormwater management solutions for Cincinnati's Madisonville neighborhood.

Presentation Posters
Below are the design boards for our group's project. Engineering team members conducted field research, contributed research on stormwater management best practices and conducted calculations for rainfall events at our sites. I conducted field research, analyzed existing conditions and impacts, synthesized findings on stormwater management best practices, analyzed combined sewer overflow locations for the study area to select sites for proposed intervention, produced all graphic and infographic content for the posters and designed poster layout.
